As 2017 comes to a close and 2018 arrives, we’d like to take some time to recap a great year for Fenton Construction Company.
In January of this year, we completed construction of the 57,000 sf Miller A. Bugliari ’52 Athletics Center at The Pingry School in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Fenton served as the general contractor for the project, which spanned 12 months, beginning in December 2015. As the general contractor, Fenton oversaw the foundation, building shell, floor slabs, exterior steel structure and walls, and EPDM roof, as well as the building interior fit out. Fenton actively participated in the design of the structure and worked closely with Butler Manufacturing™ to configure the building’s steel shell. Butler is the oldest and largest pre-engineered metal building company in the world, providing both design and fabrication of metal building systems for commercial construction. Formally opened on January 9th, 2017, Miller A. Bugliari ’52 Athletics Center is strategically situated adjacent to the Pingry football field and track, and serves a variety of sports activities and sports training needs. The modern, spacious field house provides locker rooms for both home and visiting teams along with a strength and conditioning room. In addition to two (2) full basketball courts and four (4) basketball side courts, there are eight (8) squash courts and ample room for fencing and wrestling events. The structure also serves as an indoor practice facility for lacrosse, softball and baseball. “The success of The Pingry School athletics center project is the result of an outstanding, coordinated effort by all those involved in its planning, design and construction,” states Michael Mulcahy, President of Fenton Construction.
In addition to ending 2017 on such a high note, we were pleased to service Nexus Plastics, Inc. Nexus Plastics, Inc. is a plastics manufacturer who provides blown plastic film products to major clients across the country. Operating out of a large industrial building in Hawthorne, NJ, Nexus Plastics was faced with the challenge of modifying their building to increase capacity and productivity with new equipment. Through our value engineering and solution based approach, Fenton Construction was able to identify a non-intrusive, cost effective way to raise the roof on a portion of the industrial facility with little interference to the day to day operations. The result fell within the company’s budget, and is an excellent fit for Nexus Plastics’ current and future needs.
Dayton Business Park and Cambridge Pavers, Inc. are both exciting new industrial facilties that started construction in late 2017. Both are currently in progress with Cambridge Pavers expected to be complete early this Spring and Dayton Business Park expected to continue through 2018. Dayton Business Park is approximately 150,000 sf flex warehouse space that will be a premier commercial facility in the area. With many tenants already under contract, this building features pre-cast concrete wall panels, 4 loading docks, and flex warehouse space with ground level entry that can be customized to fit the tenents’ needs.
Cambridge Pavers, Inc. is a large pavers manufacturing company headquartered in Lyndhurst, NJ. With business booming, they also needed to increase manufacturing capacity. After detailed discussion with Butler Manufacturing and Fenton’s design team, the result is a beautiful 50,000 sf Butler pre-engineered complex in the form of three individual buildings; a production building, kiln building, compressor and batching building. Fenton was chosen to furnish and erect the building shell with a scheduled completion date of Spring 2018.
As part of our commitment to innovation and excellence, Fenton Construction is proud to have been awarded a buildership from Tellus Building Systems™, the premier manufacturer of pre-cast concrete building systems and a proud strategic partner with Butler Manufacturing. Tellus provides a pre-engineered, modular, concrete composite building system, with fully integrated exterior walls, floor, roof, and interior partition wall framing which can be manufactured off-site or on-site. It is our intention that through this partnership we will be able to provide more options and more value to better suit the needs of our clients.
With many new projects under contract for 2018 and an ever-growing Fenton team, we’d like to thank all our clients for their business. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the tri-state area with our construction services. We could not be in business for 52 years if it were not for the support from all of you!
We hope you will continue to trust us for all your future general contracting and construction management needs.
